ECO & moldable glasses: general update June 16, 2017
This entry is about a general update to the optical design programs in June 2017. It is mainly driven by enhancements to the optical glass data from the main manufacturers.

As always, Qioptiq Photonics will be attending the Optatec show in May 2012.

Gaussian Beams: extra tools June 08, 2011
As expected, there was much interest in the new or enhanced Gaussian Beam tools in PreDesigner and WinLens3D at the Laser show in Munich last month. We have followed this up by releasing updates with new features in those programs.

William Herschel - telescopes in Bath & Space October 02, 2009
To all those interested in the history of optics and/or astronomy. If you happen to be visiting Bath [UK] then do make time for a visit to the Herschel House in New Kings Street [about 5 minutes walk from the Roman baths]. At this spot, William Herschel, a noted musician at the time, made his own 7inch newtonian telescope, and with it discovered Uranus in 1781.
